New Winston Museum can offer unpaid internship opportunities in a variety of nonprofit and museum disciplines. If you need college credit or are just looking for volunteer experience, NWM has a current project that might interest you. We are interested in creating mutually beneficial internship experiences, and we work to match interns with appropriate projects. The options below are examples of internships we offer, but we are always working on new projects for interns. New Winston Museum, the community history museum for Winston-Salem and Forsyth County, is offering an unpaid internship to one outstanding graduate or undergraduate student. The selected intern will play a key role in the research and implementation of the Museum’s “Salon Series” programming. Each quarter, our flagship programming series tackles a new theme, and interns research those themes and work with staff to create three monthly programs. Duties include: research, writing, correspondence with community leaders and organizations, and organizing programming efforts.
New Winston Museum is offering an unpaid education internship to one graduate or undergraduate student. The selected intern will work to develop educational materials corresponding to the curriculum of the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School system. Using content developed in previous exhibitions, the intern will develop lesson plans, activities, and the materials to create subject-specific resources that will be made available to local educators.
New Winston Museum is offering an unpaid internship to one graduate or undergraduate student. The selected intern will have experience in web-site management, and expertise in interactive web-based media. The intern will adapt previous physical exhibitions to develop engaging web-based digital exhibitions that will be available in the museum and online.
